3 Tips For Healthy Holiday Drains

The holiday season tends to keep our homes busy. More guests and more cooking tend to lead to more clogged drains. Keep your drains clear this year with these three easy tips.
Avoid Draining Grease
I highly recommend not throwing any grease down the drain. With all that extra cooking, you’ll probably have some leftover grease. Just put it in a tin can, let it sit overnight, and throw it the trash next day.
Careful with Your Disposal
If you’re using your disposal, try to dispose of food in smaller volumes, and make sure you’re running the water at a high volume to move it through your pipes. Vegetable slices and shavings can create a clog when they’re thrown down in gobs, so just dispose of them a little at a time.
Don’t Flush That
For your toilets and bathrooms, be cautious as to what’s being flushed. We get a lot of calls this time of year because kids accidently drop toys in the toilet. Paper products that aren’t intended for the toilet can also cause clogging.
Even in a public sewage system, baby wipes can create clogs, because they don’t dissolve in the sewer line. Simply make your guests aware of the precautions when they’re in your home.
No one wants to deal with an unnecessary service call during the holidays. Avoid drain issues by following these few simple steps. If you do end up with a clogged drain, make sure to call us as soon as you can at 1-610-257-7702.
