Help! My Air Conditioner Didn’t Turn On!

If you go to switch on your air conditioner this summer and it doesn’t come on, don’t panic. Follow the following simple steps.

  1. Realize It’s Not Uncommon

Your air conditioner has probably been out of use since last summer. And between then and now, we’ve had plenty of rain and storms. It’s not uncommon for the breaker to have tripped, or moved to the off position.

  1. Go to the Breaker

Go to your electrical panel and find the breaker marked “air conditioner” or “AC.” If it’s in the middle, turn it to the off position and then flip it back on.

  1. Double-Check the Thermostat

If that doesn’t work, go to your thermostat and make sure it’s set to the cooling mode. If it is, look to ensure that the temperature you’re asking the system to achieve is below the current room temperature.

  1. Check the Emergency Switches

If those few things still don’t flip the system on, find your emergency switches and make sure they are in the on position. They are sometimes located at the top of the stairs or on the side of the furnace.

  1. Call MoreVent

If you’ve tried all of the above steps and the system still doesn’t work, call MoreVent and we’ll send a technician out to your home to figure out what’s going on with your system.
We always recommend an annual check-up to keep your system running properly, but even if you’ve had one, you could still run into this situation. Remember to stay calm and follow the steps outlined above. If you need further assistance, give MoreVent a call at 1-484-203-8420.
